The Not So Helpful Advice for How I Lost My Baby Weight

I am fortunate enough to be back down to my pre-baby weight. In fact, I am a few pounds lighter than I even was before I got pregnant.

Many times I am asked the question, “How did you lose it?” Well my advice is simple and as I warned you in the title of this blog post, not so helpful either. The only reason I say it’s not so helpful is because it is the same advice you already know and have heard many times. Essentially I’m just here to reinforce it.

I ate healthy.

I know. It’s bland and boring advice, but that’s exactly what I did. It’s what I did while I was pregnant, as well as after. I had my Friday cheat day, but every other day I ate the best I could, and drank lots of water. No, I didn’t have a specific diet, and no I didn’t try to avoid a certain food group. I just chose healthy options for meals, and portioned my meal sizes, and I saw the weight come off quickly.

I stayed active with my baby.

It is very easy with a newborn to sit on the couch and relax all day. Trust me, I was there. But I tried to stay active and move every single day. Whether it was going for a walk, or playing with her on the ground I tried to always do something with her to keep us both moving. Now that she is older it’s even easier, because all I do is chase her. I try to not sit on the couch and watch TV, but go outside with her, play games with her, chase her around, or just continue to pull her off of our coffee table every time she climbs up.

Clean eating and movement is key to living a healthy lifestyle, and every little bit counts.
