5 Reasons Why You Need the Kiyari Changing Pad Clutch

Cute clutch

If you’ve been reading my blog over the last year you know I’m all about keeping things simple. Our birthdays and holidays are never over the top, our matching outfits are pretty easy, and my home is pretty darn simple as well.

Do you know what’s not simple? Running errands with a toddler.

There are so many times that I run errands with my daughter, lug our huge diaper bag around, and only use the essentials inside of it; diapers and wipes. One day I realized, “why am I lugging this thing around, sometimes even with a purse, and always with a toddler who is constantly on the go?”

That was when Kiyari reached out to me about their adorable portable diaper changing pad that folds into a clutch, and I knew I just couldn’t resist. This thing is a life saver for this simple pregnant mama for a few reasons.

My daughter can carry it.

Yes, you heard me right. My daughter can be the one to lug our belongings around. She is always independent and helpful, and if mama is holding something she wants to be the one to carry it. She could never hold the diaper bag or my purse because it was simply to big for her, but she can carry this clutch around with no problem. Everything is zipped into place, and all she has to do is throw that strap around her little arm and she is one happy camper. The best part is, when she chooses to carry the clutch, the only thing I have to worry about is carrying her. #winwin

It can hold all the essentials that we need.

When I run errands I love to only bring the essentials that I need. That typically includes my phone, debit card, license, cash, keys, diapers, wipes and possibly a few small toys for my daughter to play with. This clutch easily holds everything we need inside. I truly couldn’t believe that I fit everything in there so comfortably. I put all of my essentials on the outside pocket, while the diapers and wipes went in an inside pocket.

It provides extra padding for changing your child.

Changing your baby in public is never a fun experience for anybody. When you open up to use the clutch as a changing pad, it has extra padding to make it more comfortable for your child while they are being changed in this unique setting. It also is extra long and waterproof. The material is non-toxic and so durable compared to other pads. It even has a small built in pillow to protect your child’s head on that changing table.

The pad is also extremely easy to clean, and can even be detached from the body for easier cleaning.

Lunch datehappy-baby.jpgCute clutch mommy

It can clip onto objects.

The strap that you can use around your wrist has a clip that makes it easy for you to clip around things, such as a stroller or grocery store handle. That way you don’t have to worry about losing or dropping it while you’re running errands, shopping or traveling with your little one.

Cute diaper bag

It’s just plain cute.

This clutch is way cuter than my purse or my daughter’s diaper bag. I absolutely love the black and white arrow pattern, and how easily is fit right on my wrist, or could just burrow under my arm as I walked with my daughter. It is gender neutral and super modern. You don’t need to sacrifice your cute style to carry around your baby’s essentials!

Painting With Feathers For Less Than $10

Ideas for Toddlers

Well today we thought we’d go colonial style and paint… with feathers. If men and women could write letters to one another with a feather and ink for hundreds of years, why not give painting with one a try too?

My daughter loved it! It was something different instead of boring old paint brushes, or her fingers. Besides, between the paint and the feathers the entire activity cost me less than $10 at Michaels. This little paint session kept her busy for over an hour, which was awesome.

I loved the neon paint we bought, and her pictures turned out so cute because the paint was so colorful and vibrant. The pack of feathers worked great as well. There were so many sizes and tons of them, so we tried to pick big ones that were easy to paint with.

If you’re looking for something fun and easy to do with your toddler I would highly recommend this fun activity.

The Best Staples to Have in Your Closet to Twin with Your Daughter

Mommy and me fashionMommy and me matchingMommy and me outfitMommy and me

Matching denim and floral dresses linked here.

It is safe to say I’m one of those moms that love to twin with her daughter. Now when I say, “twin” with my daughter, what that typically means is I coordinate our outfits to be somewhat matching. We have a few matching outfits that were either purchased or given to us to match, but most of the time when I match my daughter it’s simple outfits that we each have in our closets that coordinate well together. Most of the items that we use to match I did not purchase for the sake of matching, they were just things I already owned in my closet. I couldn’t match my daughter without these staples in my closet.

Solid Colored Shirts or Dresses

So many times when I match my daughter, it’s just a simple, plain colored shirt that goes well with a shirt she has around that color as well.

Common Patterns like Stripes or Plaid

I cannot tell you how many times my daughter and I match with stripes. Whether it’s shirts or dresses we each have a few different items in our closets that contain stripes and they are perfect to match each other. We also have a few other patterns that go well together like plaid, floral, palm leaves, etc.

Jean Jacket

Margot was given a hand-me-down jean jacket which was the perfect staple to easily match with me. If we don’t have a perfect matching outfit, it’s nice to be able to throw this on each of us to bring our style together.

I love to live in black leggings anyway, so making sure my daughter has a pair that always fits her is a must for matching. It’s easy to pair similar tops or dresses.

11 Easy Activities To Do With Your Toddler on a Rainy Day

Mom Fashion.jpg

Top: DressLily | Leggings: Nordstrom

The last few days have been rainy ones here in Western New York. Normally during the summer, I dread rainy days, especially stuck in a house with a toddler who needs to be moving all day long. But something about these last few days has brought me happiness with the never-ending rain.

Our summer has been nonstop on-the-go, and the last few days have almost seemed peaceful. It has forced us to slow down and relax. We’ve been able to try some new indoor activities, and I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve been that mom who has watched a little more TV with my daughter than normal. But you know? We’ve been so busy that I am okay with that. Over the last few months we’ve come up with a few rainy day activities that keep our time passing through the day.

Drawing with Foam

My daughter loves to color and draw, but one day I stumbled upon some extra foam pieces we had around the house and she was so excited. Now when she’s antsy and bored I pull out small pieces of foam and she loves to color on it with pen.

Rainy Day Activities.jpgToddler Activity drawing

Foam Puzzles

My daughter loves the foam and she loves puzzles, so one day I decided to cut out little hearts and turn them into small foam puzzles. She has so much fun mixing them up and putting them back together.

Toddler Activity Foam Puzzles.jpg

Books, Books and More Books

Are you surprised that books are on the list? Probably not! But it is remarkable how much time my daughter will spend just sitting and “reading” books. Now that she is starting to say more words she loves to point out what she knows and recognizes. Read together, or let them just read on their own!

Fort Building

Who doesn’t love a good fort? Even if it only consists of a blanket draped over two sturdy objects, it’s something new and fun for them to climb under and play in. My daughter loves a simple fort that she can just play with her babies, and read her books in.

Bake Something Together

If you have the ingredients and the time, you might as well bake something yummy together. Besides, then eating it gives you something to do after it’s done as well!

Go to a Museum or Indoor Nature Center

If you have a fun kids museum or an indoor nature center that you can visit, doing that while it’s a rainy day is the perfect time to go. I found that the Audubon Nature Center is a perfect place to go with children, and they have so much to do inside on rainy days. Check out my blog post for all the fun activities the Audubon offers.

Exercise Together

There are so many mother and child exercise routines online now that are a great workout for mom, and also fun for kids. Every time my daughter sees me exercising she wants to jump right in and do it too.

Organize

I have found this is a great idea to do on a rainy day. When I say organize, I mean one of two things. Organize can mean just organizing things for fun, or organizing things for a purpose. One day we organized all her toys by color just for fun. It kept her entertained for a long time, and she actually was having fun and showed me that she knew her colors.

Other times we have organized her room for a purpose. The best part about this is sometimes while we organized we found toys tucked away under her crib or other places that she had forgotten about and she was so excited to play with them again.

Toddler activity.jpg

Fill Plastic Bags with Fun Things

I’ve learned there are so many fun things you can do with plastic bags that are so simple. One day I just filled a plastic bag with blue colored water and buttons and she moved and played with those buttons at her highchair for close to twenty minutes.

Another fun thing to fill the bags with is just a few colors or paint. They can spread the paint around and make different colors. You can also throw in some random items that they can roll around in the paint.

Toddler ActivitiesToddler Activity

Yes, TV.

I’m not saying that we binge watch shows all day long, but we watch some of her favorite shows that keep her occupied. There are so many shows that are educational and great for young learners. Singalongs and movement shows are perfect for my daughter who loves to move while she watches TV. She also loves Sesame Street, and Sofia the First.

Play in the Rain

Don’t forget that playing in the rain can be just as fun as playing outside on a sunny day.

When it rains it nourishes the ground and refreshes the plants when they need it most. Sometimes you need to let the rain do that for you too.

It’s a Girl!

Gender reveal

Well, thank you for your patience as we told all of our friends and family the news of the gender reveal first! If you’ve read the title by now you’ve realized that it’s a GIRL! We would have been happy either way, but we are so thrilled to be having another girl, and a sister for Margot.

I’m also excited because I love pink, and it’s certainly going to be easy to match my daughters with all the pink around this house.

A few weeks ago I wrote about my favorite maternity store, PinkBlush (check out that blog post here). Recently I found this adorable pink long sleeve cold shoulder maternity top that had the cutest ruffle on it from them. It is so soft and comfortable to wear, as well as super cute. I definitely will be wearing this throughout my entire pregnancy, as well as postpartum. Check out more of their adorable maternity tops on their website.

The best part about PinkBlush is that they not only have women’s clothing they now offer so many adorable outfits for newborns and children. I cannot wait to continue matching with my daughters through PinkBlush!

Let’s hope that this next girl is as sweet, silly and sassy as her older sister!

Why Pink Blush Has Been My Go To Maternity Store for Two Years

Pregnancy Red Dress

When I learned I was pregnant back in 2016, I hit a point where I was in desperate need of maternity clothes. I had two weddings, three baby showers (one being my own), and just a general need for casual clothes as well as items I could wear to work. I found a few bland pieces at local stores that got me through a month or two. I told myself that I was just going to have to deal with not feeling comfortable or cute in any clothes while I was pregnant for the next few months.

That was before I heard of Pink Blush.

One day while browsing Pinterest I stumbled upon the website Pink Blush, and suddenly realized that I could wear some beautiful, trendy clothes as a pregnant woman, while still being comfortable. These clothes are what I continued to wear after pregnancy when I was still postpartum and not back to my normal weight. Some dresses I was even able to wear after I was back to my normal weight.

Fast forward to 2018 and I am pregnant again, wearing the same beautiful dresses from Pink Blush that I wore during my last pregnancy, as well as some new items that I couldn’t live without.

Red Floral Crochet Tassel Tie Maternity Shift Dress

maternity-red-dress.jpg

This dress is one of the most comfortable summer dresses I have ever owned. The polyester material is so light to wear out and about on these warm summer days. It can easily be paired with heels to wear to a formal event, or worn with some sandals to run errands. Just when I thought I couldn’t love this dress more, I realized it has pockets. C’mon ladies, you know we all love a good pocket dress!

When it was shipped to me the tassels were tied together in a bow at the top, but personally, I like the untied look better with an open neckline. This dress is the perfect fit and is designed to be worn before, during and after pregnancy.

Peach Floral Striped Knot Tie Maternity Top

Floral Maternity Top

This floral and striped top is the perfect piece that can be casually worn around town or dressed up to wear to work. The front has a floral pattern with striped sleeves for a unique look, while the back is only stripes. It’s so easy to pair with a simple jean and bootie outfit, or could be dressed up with a black pencil skirt and heels.

It is 95% Rayon and 5% Spandex so it is very comfortable and has the perfect fit. I love the way it fits right around my bump with the knot tie detail on the left side hemline. The best part is I can wear this now at 20 weeks, but I can see that it will easily continue to fit my growing belly until I am full term.

2016 Pink Blush Favorites

Coral Maternity/Nursing Dress

Coral Pregnancy Dress

This simple, but beautiful dress has been one of my favorites for years. I wore it when I was pregnant with my daughter who is now almost two. I continued to wear it for months after she was born because it was so easy to breastfeed her in this dress. After I got back to my pre-baby weight I could still easily wear this dress, it just had a bit more flow to it.

I constantly wore this dress casually with a pair of flats or sandals and a jean jacket, or dressed it up with heels and wore it to a wedding. It is so versatile while also allowing you to feel so comfortable and cute wearing it.

Mint Floral Chiffon Maternity Dress

mint-pregnancy-dress.jpg

This mint floral dress is one of Pink Blush’s most popular items. This was the dress that caught my eye on Pinterest and helped me discover this beautiful range of dresses. I wore this to my baby shower with my first born. It fit so well and was so comfortable to wear. I loved that I could wear this dress with sleeves throughout the summer, and still didn’t get too warm because the sleeve material was so light and airy. It is also double lined to prevent sheerness. This dress continued to fit better and better the more the baby grew.

I have two other friends that bought this same exact dress because they too saw it on Pinterest and they love it just as much as I do. I have never received so many compliments on a dress as I do this one.

Delivery/Nursing Maternity Robe

maternity-robe.jpg

Pink Blush calls these Delivery/Nursing and Maternity Robe’s, but I call them “the comfiest thing I’ve ever put on my body and I wear it every day of my life” robe. When I say that I have worn this robe almost every single day since the birth of my daughter, I’m not lying to you. This is my go-to garment when I get out of the shower, and I wear it all morning long while I get ready until I get dressed in the morning.

I wore it when I was pregnant with my first daughter, and it fit perfectly over my growing belly. It was the comfiest piece of clothing to nurse my daughter in, and I’m so happy that I brought this robe to the hospital with me while I was there for a few days. It is still in beautiful condition and I’m so excited to wear it all the time throughout this second pregnancy as well.

The specific robe I purchased two years ago is not sold anymore, but I have linked two very similar options here and here.

pregnancy-robe.jpg

My final thoughts…

Before you go, let me leave you with a few things:

  1. Pink Blush allows you to get 10% off your first order, so you can instantly get a discounted price.
  2. I am so excited that Pink Blush now has regular women’s clothing, so if you become as addicted as me, you can still buy their adorable items even when you’re not pregnant.
  3. Better yet, they have KIDS clothing that you can purchase for your baby or toddler, and you can guarantee you will be seeing more of that from me in the future.

Comment or message me if you have any questions about styling, sizing or fit on any of these cute items!

Thank you to Pink Blush for sponsoring today’s post and for always having the best, quality clothing for pregnant and new mothers! All content and opinions are that of my own!

Cute Weekly Bump Picture Idea with Toddler

When I was pregnant with my oldest I never did the bump pictures. I felt weird standing in front of a camera by myself to take a picture of my growing bump each week, especially since it didn’t grow all that fast for a while. Looking back on it, I wish I had because it really is amazing to see the progression of the growing human inside the body. That is why I decided the second time around that I would capture at least most of the weeks. The only difference was this time I had a little helper that wanted in on the pictures as well.

I thought in order to remember exactly how big the baby was, I would try to hold the fruit or vegetable that baby was the size of in the picture each week. The only problem with that, is some fruits and veggies are not always in season when it’s time to post a picture of that baby in your belly, so I had to get a little creative with a few. Each week I bought two so that I could hold one, and my daughter could hold the other.

5 Reasons Why You Should Take Your Child to the National Audubon Society

During the summers my daughter and I love adventuring to new places and exploring new things. Last year was tough because she wasn’t even one, and she couldn’t do very much. This year is a whole different story. She can interact with things, play, and observe. That’s why I decided to try out our local Audubon Society here in town, and let me tell you it was one of the best days we’ve had in a while.

I cannot speak for all Audubon’s across the country, but I’m sure each one works hard to make it fun and interactive for kids and adults. I was amazed at all the fun things we could do and see there, especially for my almost two-year-old daughter.

Hiking

They have tons of hiking paths and trails that you can choose to walk. Deep in the woods, or just a small trek around their facility, it could leave you walking for hours. They allow strollers, so my daughter and I walked a path through the woods and were able to see tons of birds, wildlife, pinecones, trees, and berries.

Audubon walkAudubonAudubon trail

Wildlife

I’m sure each Audubon center is different in terms of the wildlife. Our local Audubon has one specific gem that many locals know, and that is Liberty, a bald eagle. She happily has her own big exhibit that she stays in and watches visitors as they pass by. My daughter is obsessed with birds and was so excited to see one so large. It was incredible to see her so close.

Audubon bald eagle

Margot inside a life-size bald eagle nest.

Gardens

Our Audubon has a local garden that they encourage you to enter and look around. It was a pretty big garden that housed many different flowers and vegetables. They ask that you be respectful of the growing crops, and do not touch, but they love for visitors to enter the enclosed space and look around at all the food and flowers they are growing. My daughter was obsessed with the tomatoes!

Interactive Play and Exhibits

Once we had explored outside for a while we moved our exploration inside. We learned there was so much more to discover inside as well. Every room, including little nooks and crannies, had either blocks, books, toys, animals, or something that she could interact and play with. I couldn’t believe how much was offered.

Some things we did inside included:

  • Pretend fishing with local fish in our area
  • Read books about many local animals
  • Played with insect puzzles
  • Played with puppets that had to do with pollination
  • Used binoculars placed by a window to see wildlife outside
  • Traveled through a hollowed out tree tunnel
  • Looked through tanks at different turtles and fish
  • Saw life-sized spiders (inside glass of course)
  • Picked pretend fruit and veggies
  • Played with stuffed animal birds
  • Checked out the gift shop

The Observatory

This may have been our favorite place in the entire Audubon. This beautiful top floor allowed you to see so much of the property and its surroundings. You could easily see the pond, so many trees, some of the paths, and of course some birds and wildlife around. My daughter was fascinated by the view, and we looked out of the glass for a while.

Ivory Ella

This tee is one from a few years ago, but a similar tee is linked here.

My daughter’s nursery is mostly elephant themed. This is because I think elephants are the best creatures to ever roam this planet. There has always been something about elephants that has amazed me. They seem so wise, funny and gentle all at once, and I’m pretty sure I have more respect for them than even most people.

That’s why I was so excited when Ivory Ella reached out to collaborate with me. I have been an Ivory Ella fan for a few years now, and the best part is that this company has had rapid growth over the last few years while helping elephants all along the way.

When I first heard of Ivory Ella they had about ten shirts they were selling at a time. It wasn’t until some time later that I purchased my favorite long sleeve tee from them, and continue to wear it to this day.

Ivory Ella donates 10% of their annual profits to saving the elephants. In just three short years this company has donated $1.6 million dollars to Save the Elephants and other charitable causes.

To learn more about how this company got started and the awesome things they are doing as well as shop their adorable clothes and accessories click here.

Thank you Ivory Ella, for helping to make the world a better place.
