The Perfect Lactation Bars with Milkful

new-mom.jpgbreastfeedingnew mamabreastfeeding-mama.jpg

I forget how much I snack when I’m breastfeeding. It seems like I am always hungry (although, is that really any different from my normal behavior?)

Recently I found the perfect healthy snack to munch on during the day when I’m feeling slightly hungry, and it helps to boost my supply if I find it getting low later in the day. Milkful is a company that makes gourmet lactation oat bars for breastfeeding mama’s in need of boosting their milk supply.

These bars are dairy free, soy free, egg free and wheat free. Their three flavors are Chocolate Banana Nut, Blueberry Almond Coconut, and Maple Walnut. They are the perfect size for when you need that little extra snack during your day filled with feeding babies, changing diapers and rocking that newborn to sleep. Just eating one bar a day can help boost that milk supply.

If you’re a new mama, struggling to breastfeed or make enough milk, I would definitely recommend trying these awesome bars! Check out their website here.

Delicious Organic Snack with OCHO Candy

ToddlerDelicious ChocolateHealthy SnackToddler SnackOrganicOrganic ChocolateOrganic CandyOCHO

Is there anything better than sharing a bunch of chocolate with your two-year-old daughter while you are 39 weeks pregnant? No, the answer is no. There is nothing better than that.

That is why I am so excited that we recently stumbled upon OCHO Candy. They make delicious organic chocolate with tons of amazing flavors to choose from. The OCHO stands for Organic CHOcolate, and being organic all of their products are GMO-free.

You can get their products in bars or in mini pouches. They do holiday subscriptions and birthday bundles, which make great gifts if you’re looking to give someone you love something yummy!

My favorite is either the dark or regular peanut butter, while Margot’s is by far the Peanut Butter and Jelly flavor which is perfect for kids. Check out their site, and try some of their amazing flavors.

Immune Boosting Blueberry Banana Oatmeal Recipe with Maty’s

Recipes for kidsYummy toddler recipesToddler helpingToddler recipesToddler RecipeToddler BakingKid helpingKids recipesToddlers in the kitchenOatmeal

This time of year is when my daughter and I start catching the dreaded colds. I know it’s inevitable, but we also learned a great way to keep it at bay with a few immune boosting recipes. The reason I say it’s “immune boosting” is that we add a little bit of Maty’s cough syrup. Now I know you may be thinking, “What? Cough syrup added to a recipe?”, but let me tell you it not only helps to boost that immune system it is so delicious as well.

Margot and I recently made a batch of Blueberry Banana Oatmeal that we added some Maty’s natural cough syrup. Their syrup is filled with all natural ingredients, and can easily be substituted for things like maple syrup or honey. That’s why I thought this recipe would be perfect for it, and it’s so easy.

Immune Boosting Blueberry Banana Oatmeal

  • ½ cup old fashioned oats
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • ¼ cup blueberries
  • 1 tablespoon of Maty’s Cough Syrup
  1. First add the oats, water, milk and half of a thinly sliced banana into a medium-sized saucepan. Turn the heat to medium and cook until the oats begin to bubble. Then stir until oats are cooked and creamy (about 3 minutes).
  2. Next, remove the pan from heat and then stir in the brown sugar and vanilla.
  3. Pour the contents into a bowl and top with the remaining half of sliced banana, blueberries, and Maty’s Cough Syrup.
  4. Enjoy!

Fall Family Fun

Well, here in Western New York winter is officially upon us. We got a few inches of snow today and the forecast for the next week or so is just more and more of it. Fall has passed, and we are on to the homestretch of a few winter weeks before baby’s arrival!

We had an awesome fall weekend a few weeks back as a family that I haven’t had a chance to share until now. Reed and I raked some leaves at his parent’s house the other day and even gave Margot her own little rake. She was definitely more interested in playing in the leaves as opposed to helping, but we figured that might be the case. It’s crazy that these are our last few weeks as a family of three before baby girl makes her debut in December.

Happy November!

A, B to JAY-Z

ABCABC'sReading ToddlerReadingThe Little HomieToddler ReadingChildren's BooksJay z

Margot has been obsessed with the alphabet lately, so when The Little Homie reached out to us about two of their books we could not resist. One of their best sellers is a book called, “A, B to JAY-Z” and is a children’s book about the alphabet. Each page represents a rapper or singer that begins with that letter and shows a picture of them doing something, usually with the letter that correlates with them.

Another book The Little Homie sells is called, “1, 2, 3 with the Notorious B.I.G“, and counts up to twenty with different rappers as well. Each page shows a different rapper doing something with a different number starting from one to twenty and goes along with lyrics to one of their songs.

I love that these books are made for children, but definitely are a fun read for their millennial parents who grew up with a lot of these singers and rappers. It is also such a great way to spread some diversity and culture into a child’s home library, especially because every caricature in these books is a real person.

These books are the perfect thing for your child, but would also make a fabulous baby shower gift! You should definitely check out The Little Homie, and more of their amazing books on their site!

Sink Baths with Aveeno

Sink Baths

Word to the wise for all you pregnant mothers out there reading this; sink baths will change your life.

The other day I realized two things. The first is that this little girl is two, and only has a limited number of sink baths left in her life. Soon enough she will not be able to fit in this sink and enjoy this cozy little kitchen environment for her baths.

The second thing I realized is that a bath in the kitchen sink is so much easier for this pregnant mama than a normal bath. I don’t have to awkwardly bend over while my ever-growing belly runs into the side of the tub. This has been so much easier on my back, and sometimes while she’s playing in there I can even get things done around the kitchen. That’s what I call a win-win.

Another win-win is Aveeno. We’ve been using Aveeno baby wash and shampoo, as well Aveeno baby daily moisture lotion and absolutely love it. The baby wash and shampoo blend natural oat extract into a rich lathering wash that cleans without drying. It’s so gentle on skin and hair and leaves a soft fresh baby smell that I simply cannot resist.

Aveeno’s baby lotion helps to soothe and protect my daughter’s delicate skin. It is naturally nourishing and the non-greasy formula absorbs quickly. It is hypoallergenic, fragrance-free and is so gentle for daily use. My daughter’s skin has never been smoother.

I know my daughter won’t stay little forever, so I am enjoying these beautiful moments while I still can.
