The Best Staples to Have in Your Closet to Twin with Your Daughter

It is safe to say I’m one of those moms that love to twin with her daughter. Now when I say, “twin” with my daughter, what that typically means is I coordinate our outfits to be somewhat matching. We have a few matching outfits that were either purchased or given to us to match, but most of the time when I match my daughter it’s simple outfits that we each have in our closets that coordinate well together. Most of the items that we use to match I did not purchase for the sake of matching, they were just things I already owned in my closet. I couldn’t match my daughter without these staples in my closet.

Solid Colored Shirts or Dresses

So many times when I match my daughter, it’s just a simple, plain colored shirt that goes well with a shirt she has around that color as well.

Common Patterns like Stripes or Plaid

I cannot tell you how many times my daughter and I match with stripes. Whether it’s shirts or dresses we each have a few different items in our closets that contain stripes and they are perfect to match each other. We also have a few other patterns that go well together like plaid, floral, palm leaves, etc.

Jean Jacket

Margot was given a hand-me-down jean jacket which was the perfect staple to easily match with me. If we don’t have a perfect matching outfit, it’s nice to be able to throw this on each of us to bring our style together.

Black Leggings

I love to live in black leggings anyway, so making sure my daughter has a pair that always fits her is a must for matching. It’s easy to pair similar tops or dresses.

Why Pink Blush Has Been My Go To Maternity Store for Two Years

Pregnancy Red Dress

When I learned I was pregnant back in 2016, I hit a point where I was in desperate need of maternity clothes. I had two weddings, three baby showers (one being my own), and just a general need for casual clothes as well as items I could wear to work. I found a few bland pieces at local stores that got me through a month or two. I told myself that I was just going to have to deal with not feeling comfortable or cute in any clothes while I was pregnant for the next few months.

That was before I heard of Pink Blush.

One day while browsing Pinterest I stumbled upon the website Pink Blush, and suddenly realized that I could wear some beautiful, trendy clothes as a pregnant woman, while still being comfortable. These clothes are what I continued to wear after pregnancy when I was still postpartum and not back to my normal weight. Some dresses I was even able to wear after I was back to my normal weight.

Fast forward to 2018 and I am pregnant again, wearing the same beautiful dresses from Pink Blush that I wore during my last pregnancy, as well as some new items that I couldn’t live without.

2018 Pink Blush Favorites

Red Floral Crochet Tassel Tie Maternity Shift Dress

This dress is one of the most comfortable summer dresses I have ever owned. The polyester material is so light to wear out and about on these warm summer days. It can easily be paired with heels to wear to a formal event, or worn with some sandals to run errands. Just when I thought I couldn’t love this dress more, I realized it has pockets. C’mon ladies, you know we all love a good pocket dress!

When it was shipped to me the tassels were tied together in a bow at the top, but personally, I like the untied look better with an open neckline. This dress is the perfect fit and is designed to be worn before, during and after pregnancy.

Peach Floral Striped Knot Tie Maternity Top

Floral Maternity Top

This floral and striped top is the perfect piece that can be casually worn around town or dressed up to wear to work. The front has a floral pattern with striped sleeves for a unique look, while the back is only stripes. It’s so easy to pair with a simple jean and bootie outfit, or could be dressed up with a black pencil skirt and heels.

It is 95% Rayon and 5% Spandex so it is very comfortable and has the perfect fit. I love the way it fits right around my bump with the knot tie detail on the left side hemline. The best part is I can wear this now at 20 weeks, but I can see that it will easily continue to fit my growing belly until I am full term.

2016 Pink Blush Favorites

Coral Maternity/Nursing Dress

Coral Pregnancy Dress

This simple, but beautiful dress has been one of my favorites for years. I wore it when I was pregnant with my daughter who is now almost two. I continued to wear it for months after she was born because it was so easy to breastfeed her in this dress. After I got back to my pre-baby weight I could still easily wear this dress, it just had a bit more flow to it.

I constantly wore this dress casually with a pair of flats or sandals and a jean jacket, or dressed it up with heels and wore it to a wedding. It is so versatile while also allowing you to feel so comfortable and cute wearing it.

Mint Floral Chiffon Maternity Dress

This mint floral dress is one of Pink Blush’s most popular items. This was the dress that caught my eye on Pinterest and helped me discover this beautiful range of dresses. I wore this to my baby shower with my first born. It fit so well and was so comfortable to wear. I loved that I could wear this dress with sleeves throughout the summer, and still didn’t get too warm because the sleeve material was so light and airy. It is also double lined to prevent sheerness. This dress continued to fit better and better the more the baby grew.

I have two other friends that bought this same exact dress because they too saw it on Pinterest and they love it just as much as I do. I have never received so many compliments on a dress as I do this one.

Delivery/Nursing Maternity Robe

Pink Blush calls these Delivery/Nursing and Maternity Robe’s, but I call them “the comfiest thing I’ve ever put on my body and I wear it every day of my life” robe. When I say that I have worn this robe almost every single day since the birth of my daughter, I’m not lying to you. This is my go-to garment when I get out of the shower, and I wear it all morning long while I get ready until I get dressed in the morning.

I wore it when I was pregnant with my first daughter, and it fit perfectly over my growing belly. It was the comfiest piece of clothing to nurse my daughter in, and I’m so happy that I brought this robe to the hospital with me while I was there for a few days. It is still in beautiful condition and I’m so excited to wear it all the time throughout this second pregnancy as well.

The specific robe I purchased two years ago is not sold anymore, but I have linked two very similar options here and here.

My final thoughts…

Before you go, let me leave you with a few things:

  1. Pink Blush allows you to get 10% off your first order, so you can instantly get a discounted price.
  2. I am so excited that Pink Blush now has regular women’s clothing, so if you become as addicted as me, you can still buy their adorable items even when you’re not pregnant.
  3. Better yet, they have KIDS clothing that you can purchase for your baby or toddler, and you can guarantee you will be seeing more of that from me in the future.

Comment or message me if you have any questions about styling, sizing or fit on any of these cute items!

Thank you to Pink Blush for sponsoring today’s post and for always having the best, quality clothing for pregnant and new mothers! All content and opinions are that of my own!

Pregnancy Changed My Taste for Mustard. The Color and the Condiment.

Processed with VSCO with t1 preset

I used to hate mustard. The color and the food. Then when I became pregnant all I wanted to eat was mustard, and apparently it changed my taste for the color as well. Here are some of my favorite mustard finds that I have found at ModCloth.

This sweater in my cart right now is an adorable, thick sweater that I am obsessing over. It is perfect for my Pittsburgh Steelers attire. They call this color “Honey” but it looks mustardy to me.

This cute skirt is perfect to wear to work, and has autumn written all over it.

How cute is this mustard raccoon top?

Do you want the mustard color in your outfit, but can’t commit to buying an article of mustard clothing? That’s okay! Pair these cute mustard tights with a cute dress and boots to add a little pop of fall color to your ensemble.

Snag this cute mustard and black beaded necklace to add a little mustard to your outfit.

Now if mustard is just not your thing, get pregnant and maybe that will change. Kidding! Check out ModCloth for tons of other cute items, mustard or not.

Amazing Deals on Summer Items for Baby in My Shopping Cart Right Now

The smell of fall is in the air. A cool, crisp chill in the morning, the sweaters have come out of the attic, and the leaves crunch under your feet as you walk. That means it is the perfect time to get online and shop for summer wear. Why you ask? Two words: deals galore.

This is the time of year that I buy a lot of warm weather clothes for my daughter. Stores want to get rid of anything summer related to make room for fall and winter products, so some things are unbelievably low priced. Here are some of my favorite summer items I’m buying for my daughter right now to prepare myself for a few months down the road.

My daughter’s adorable suit from Janie and Jack that I wish she would fit in forever.

Baby Swim Wear

My daughter received the cutest suit from Janie and Jack. The original price of the suit was around $42. Currently some of the swim wear at Janie and Jack is down to $9.99 and it is adorable. Order a large size now for your little one to wear next summer! I’m obsessing over this cute swim suit, and am absolutely getting it for my daughter to wear.

Baby Shorts

Can we talk about the adorable prints that Janie and Jack has right now for around $12.99? Usually prices are between $36.00-$42.00 so this is an amazing deal, and there are so many sweet shorts to choose from. I have these Spearmint Palm shorts in my cart as we speak.

Baby Sandals

I’m loving the summer colors and adore these bright coral sandals for my daughter. They are on sale right now from $32.00 at only $9.99.

Baby Summer Dresses

Janie and Jack have the cutest summer dresses for little girls (can we get some in mom’s size please). This embroidered eyelet dress was originally $69.00 and is now on sale for only $23.99. I cannot wait until my daughter can wear this come June!

Baby Summer Hats

These summer hats are the sweetest. They are nice material and will hold up nicely during the summer months. I am buying this little straw sun hat for my daughter. It was originally $26.00 on sale for only $8.99.

When I’m shopping I only look at the girls clothes for my daughter, but after looking through some of the summer clothes they also have adorable little boys clothing as well. I especially love the cute plaid outfits they have for the young men.

I tried to only stick to summer items, but they also have adorable fall and winter items that I may have to sneak into my cart as well.

Snag some cute clothes for your little one and store it until the summer. When summer rolls around and you get to pull out these sweet, new outfits it will feel like Christmas in July!

My Favorite Old Navy Finds

If you know me at all, you know I am all about comfort. I probably own more clothes for lying around being lazy than anything else.

When it comes to going out in public you will still typically find me in a casual outfit. Dressing up with an eleven month old can be a waste of time. Literally spills everywhere.

The number one place I purchase my comfy clothing is Old Navy, for both my daughter and I. Typically if I like one thing, I buy it in every color. No, I’m serious. Here are a few simple goodies I’ve lived in lately.

My Favorite Tank

The first is my favorite tank. I own this in six colors. Yes, six. I wear it with everything. Shorts, sweatpants, jeans, skirts… everything. I also wore one when I was pregnant because it was stretchy, and one of the only shirts that would fit me at nine months pregnant. I still wear that same one today because it never stretched out.

Baby’s shoes are also from Old Navy.

My Favorite Casual Dresses

Old Navy dresses are usually very light and airy. They are the perfect summer dresses to stay cool. They can be used for casual dinner dates or a wedding.

My Favorite Shorts

Okay, I bought one pair of their shorts. The next day I went back to Old Navy and bought six other colors. Oops! I love how these shorts fit. They are not super tight around my thighs, and they fit my hips so well. They had so many awesome colors to choose from.

Tank, shorts, cardigan and baby shoes all from Old Navy

My Favorite Baby Swimwear

My daughter has only had two swimsuits in her short little life, and I’ve loved both that we purchased from Old Navy. They fit her perfectly at the two stages we needed them. Bonus- they are super cute!

I could go on and on about my love for Old Navy. From the sandals, workout clothes, jeans, baby clothes, jackets and more.

Thank you for never letting me down, Old Navy.

Want New Clothes At Your Door?

Do you want clothes to just show up at your door? You know you do.

I have always been a shopper. Shopping for clothes is my weakness. In my spare time I would head to the mall or local stores and buy an endless amount of clothes.

Then I had my daughter. Shopping with a baby is no joke. She makes it so much more difficult, that I have given up trying to take her to stores while I try on clothes.

Instead I just have clothes magically show up at my house. It’s called Stitch Fix! They are unique in that you don’t actually get to choose what you get.

Stitch Fix is a company that carefully chooses clothes for you and delivers them to your front door. The company picks five items of clothing they think will suit you based on a profile you create. If you like them, you keep them. If you don’t like them, you send them back.

I have personally used this process twice. Each time they have sent me five items of clothing, and both times I’ve kept all five items. I think I wear my Stitch Fix clothes more than any other items of clothing I physically bought myself.

It’s a simple process.

Step 1: Go to Stitch Fix’s website and set up your profile. It’s very easy! Just fill out your basic measurements, your clothes and style preferences, and some items you would like to see in your closet. They even ask your profession to get a feel for what you can wear to work. Stitch Fix gives you clothing examples and images to choose if you Love it, Like it, It’s Just Ok, or Hate it.

My favorite thing about the profile is they allow you to link your social media pages for them to look at. I linked my Pinterest page titled, “I Wish This Was In My Closet”. Although nothing mimicked those pins, it was the same type of clothing and style I was looking for.

Step 2: Pick a date to send the clothes. I have to say Stitch Fix has gotten so much faster the second time around. The first time I picked a date I had to wait an entire month until the next fix was available. The second time I got to choose a date for the following week.

If you love the experience you can always have fixes come every 2-3 weeks, every month, every other month, or every 3 months.

Step 3: Pay a $20 styling fee to start the process. If you end up purchasing items, that $20 is credited toward your account. It’s basically a small security deposit. If you don’t buy anything, you do eat the $20 though.

Step 4: This is either the worst step, or the best step. It’s the interval of time you wait for your fix to arrive. It’s the worst step if you simply cannot wait for your package to arrive. It is the best step if you completely forget it was supposed to come and clothes just show up at your door!

Step 5: Try on the clothes! Test the clothes out. Look at the outfit ideas they provide you in your package. Hopefully everything fits and you love it all!

Step 6a: Yay! You love it all, and you are going to keep every item! Now go back on their website and purchase the fix. Because you liked all the items you get a 25% discount, which really helps with the purchase price. Enjoy those clothes!

Step 6b: Well you liked some, but not all! That’s okay! Just go on their website and pay for the things you’d like to keep. Don’t forget to send back those items that you would like to return. Enjoy those new pieces!

Step 7: Make sure you go back and give specific feedback on all of your items. Be specific so they know what they did well and what just didn’t work for you.

The grey and white striped sweater is one of the five pieces from my Stitch Fix order.
Both of my favorite jeans came from Stitch Fix. One I am wearing in this picture.

Please feel free to message or contact me with any questions or concerns. Enjoy!
